Ben's Bio

Ben Avison is an outstanding songwriter and captivating live performer who has been praised for his “beautifully rich voice”, “tasty guitar work” and hailed as a “master of many styles” by the BBC.  Music critics from all over the world singled his 2013 debut album Good Day Mr. Magpie, describing his songwriting as “perceptive,” “authentic” and “inspiring”.

He also does songwriting workshops, sessions and lessons.

Ben grew up in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, where he played his first paid gigs at the age of just 15. Since then, he joined Uganda’s top band Afrigo, toured Australia and UK with indie-ska pioneers Blue Arsed Flies, became a regular on the London and festival circuit with The Leaves.

​

Ben is also known for working with several other great acts including The Moonbeams, Rise Kagona (of the Bhundu Boys), Count DrachmaSteph Pirrie, Okina and Haula.

​
